Michael McConnell in the Minneapolis house he still shares with Jack Baker. In September, 1971, they legally changed their names to gender-neutral ones, received a marriage license in Mankato, and were married by a Methodist minister. This was undoubtably the first gay marriage in America. They've now been married for over 40 years. Photo by Bill Ganzel, January, 2018.
